📶 A note on the eSIM included with Mega Pass & Turbopass City Pass
The Mega Pass includes a 3 GB eSIM and the Turbopass City Pass comes with a 1 GB Kolet eSIM. For travellers from outside the EU that’s genuinely useful. As an EU citizen you already roam in Greece at your home rates (EU roaming) — so the eSIM is a benefit you pay for but barely need. Factor that out when comparing prices.
Does the pass pay off?
On price alone an Athens pass is not worth it for everyone: if you only want the Acropolis, a single ticket is cheaper. The real gain is time — skip-the-line entry, an audio guide instead of research, and hop-on/hop-off instead of hunting for tickets. If you visit several sights and use the bus over 2–3 days, the pass usually saves money too.
Buying & redeeming
Same as Essential: personal Mega Pass account, date/time selection, mobile tickets. The Cape Sounion tour is booked through the same dashboard.
What speaks against this pass
Only worth it if you really want to do the Cape Sounion tour — otherwise the Essential is cheaper. Same caveats as Essential: eSIM offers no real benefit for EU citizens, small review base, occasional reports of late e-tickets.
Who is this pass for?
- You want to catch the sunset at Cape Sounion
- You like the Mega Pass 365-day flexibility
- You come from outside the EU (then the eSIM is useful)
Real reviews
Great way to explore the busy Acropolis at your own pace. The museum tour adds context — go to the museum first.
Had trouble picking attractions at first, but support helped immediately and kindly. Acropolis, museum and hop-on/hop-off then ran smoothly.
We didn’t receive the e-tickets in time — even 30 minutes before the activity nothing had arrived despite contacting support.
