A note on the eSIM included with Mega Pass & Turbopass City Pass
The Mega Pass includes a 3 GB eSIM and the Turbopass City Pass comes with a 1 GB Kolet eSIM. Travellers from outside the EU can use it instead of buying a local SIM. As an EU citizen you already roam in Greece at your home rates (EU roaming), so the eSIM is a benefit you pay for but barely need. Factor that out when comparing prices.
Does the pass pay off?
On price alone an Athens pass is not worth it for everyone. If you only want the Acropolis, a single ticket is cheaper. The real gain is time: skip-the-line entry, an audio guide instead of reading up beforehand, and the hop-on/hop-off bus instead of buying tickets on the spot. If you visit several sights and use the bus over 2–3 days, the pass usually saves money too.
Buying & redeeming
After booking, Mega Pass gives you access to your personal account where you pick dates/times and access the mobile tickets. Acropolis comes with a time slot; the security check at the entrance cannot be skipped. Cancellation when booked directly with Mega Pass: full refund as long as no ticket has been created or issued for your order. Reservations or selections made with the pass count as tickets. After that the order is non-refundable, and partial refunds are not available. For bookings via GetYourGuide, GetYourGuide’s terms apply: free cancellation up to 24 hours before the chosen date.
What speaks against this pass
Some GetYourGuide reviews mention that e-tickets occasionally arrived late, so keep a buffer and contact Mega Pass support early if anything is off. The included 3 GB eSIM is essentially worthless for EU citizens thanks to EU roaming (see note below). There are still only a few reviews.
